VETERINARY COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, NAMAKKAL

The Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal was established on 14-06-1985 as a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore and subsequently became a constituent college of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) from 20-09-1989. The college is located at Laddivadi, 7 km from Namakkal on the way to Mohanur. The total area of the campus is 502.34 acres.

Namakkal is one of the largest egg producing pockets of our country accommodating about 2.5 million layers producing around 20 million eggs per day with various systems of housing and management practices. About 75 to 80 per cent of the total replacement chicks are being produced and distributed by renowned and well-established hatcheries situated at Namakkal.
